How the damage is calculated

Damage per shot = weapon damage × (0.5 + ATT / 50). At 0 ATT you deal half of the weapon's listed damage; each ATT point adds 2%. Damaging multiplies this by 1.25; Weak sets the multiplier to 0.5.

Attacks per second = (1.5 + 6.5 × DEX / 75) × the weapon's rate of fire. Berserk multiplies it by 1.25; Dazed counts DEX as 0.

Defense subtracts flat from every shot, but a shot always deals at least 10% of its damage. That is why many small shots lose more to defense than a few big ones. Armor Piercing shots and Armor Broken targets ignore defense; Exposed lowers it by 20 and can take it below zero; Armored raises it by 50%. Cursed targets take 25% more after defense.

Weapon damage is rolled evenly between its minimum and maximum, so the calculator averages every possible roll against the target's defense instead of using the midpoint.

Dex or Att?

Against zero defense it depends on your current stats: at 50 ATT and 50 DEX a DEX point adds about 11% more DPS than an ATT point. As defense rises, ATT pulls ahead, because it makes each shot bigger before defense is subtracted, while DEX adds more shots that each lose the same flat amount. The line under the results shows which point is worth more for build A at the DEF you entered.
