How this works
Every 5 minutes we request the official website and the account server that the game client talks to at login. The account server answers even without a login, so if it stops answering, nobody can log in. Two failed checks in a row mean down; one means unstable.
The player count comes from Steam and covers only people who play through Steam. Players using the standalone Exalt launcher aren't counted, so the real number is higher. A sudden drop to a fraction of the usual count is often the first sign of an outage, before the checks fail.
Planned maintenance and patch notes are posted on the official site and the official @RotMG_news on X and the RotMG Discord. DECA has no official status page.
